Being Healthy, Living Right

Hey Everyone,

“The greatest wealth is health.” – Virgil, philosopher

On today’s episode we are going to be discussing being healthy and living right.  As I sit here in Paris writing this blog, I can’t help but ask myself what does being healthy mean?  So many times I feel that our society pushes upon us this need to be the “model size” body type or the muscular football player in order to be considered “healthy.”  However, being healthy is not just focused on the physical appearance, rather on mind, body and spirit.

When it comes to our physical well being we need to make sure that we respect and take care of our body by feeding it good things and not over doing it on those doughnuts or cookies all the time.  We are reminded in Paul’s letter to the Corinthians of this notion, “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own,” (1 Corinthians 6:19).

Going from physical health, our mental health is just as important.  We need to make sure that we are not holding in emotions and letting things build up.  I think that mental health is one of the hardest to work on, but it is really important to make sure that we are emotionally stable.

Finally we need to work at our spiritual health.  Are you going to Mass, praying, going to confession, reading the Bible, etc?  All of these activities help us to grow in our spiritual development of knowing Jesus Christ more and more every day.

Mind, Body and Spirit are three parts of our life that are on a 3 way scale.  Each part is just as important as the other.  If we focus on one aspect and forget the other two, our lives become unbalanced and things start to slip by.  Finding this balance may take time, but once you are able to find it, you will see improvements in your life.  Remember that Christ was human just like us and He needed to balance his mind, body and spirit.

May God bless you this week as you continue on your faith journey.  I’m praying for you always!
