Hey Everyone! On today’s episode we talk about whether our friends have a good or a bad influence on us. So first I thought I should give the definition of a friend according to dictionary.com: “a person attached to another by feeling of affection or personal regard.” So I’ll ask you the question; how many friends do you have today, right now? I don’t want that question to scare you or make you think that you don’t have friends.
I know in high school, it was very difficult for me to make friends. I would go to school, go through my classes, stay after school for various activities and then I would go home. I didn’t have friends from school to hang out with on the weekend or anything like that, no. My friends were from my youth group. The people that I got to know from youth group were people that I trusted with anything. I feel that you know who your friends are if you are able to share anything about yourself with them and they still love you and accept you where you are at. If I don’t feel that way with someone, then they are just someone I know.
When choosing our friends, I think it’s important to really ask God into that decision to help us to make a good choice. If we ask God into a friendship then He will keep it a good one, one full of care and love for the other person. If God isn’t in a friendship, that friendship will go nowhere and will not foster love. Remember what we read in 1 John 4:16 “God is love and he who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.” Know that I’m praying for you this week!
God Bless,
John <><
